There are many events celebrating the many communities in New Zealand, what is clearly lacking in the Waikato is celebrating those of European descent. We are therefore planning a festival showcasing European countries.

The Eurofest will be organised by the NZ Netherlands Society (Waikato) Inc. We have 10 years of experience (with the Hamilton Tulip Festival) of organising successful Festivals. We are in the process of applying for grants to fund the cost of the Festival.

The date for this is Saturday the 6th September 2024 at the Hamilton Gardens Pavilion. The Festival will run from 10 am till 4 pm.

We are looking for groups linked to any of the European countries to take part at the Festival:

• Performances of up to 30 minutes  -(donation of $100 for each performance is offered, funds permitting) all indoors at the Pavilion

  • Dance

  •  choirs

  • Audience participation

• Food stalls selling traditional foods – cost tba, but will be reasonable

• Display of 3X3m re-presenting each of the European countries. Here clubs and societies can advertise their clubs etc.

  • The national flag, national dress, photos of nature/cities can all be used. No cost for this display.
